Your Mailbox Is Being Replaced. Here's What You Need to Do.
The neighborhood is upgrading to cluster mailbox units (CBUs) for all residents. To secure your unit, you must complete the registration form below and confirm your payment before the deadline.
About The Cluster Mailbox Upgrade
What Are Cluster Mailboxes?
Cluster mailbox units (CBUs) are centralized, locking mailbox stations that serve a group of homes from a single freestanding installation. Each resident receives their own secure, numbered compartment, replacing the boxes that consistently blow over when we get high winds in the canyon. Click here for a diagram of the units we are ordering.
Why Is the Neighborhood Switching?
The current system doesn't withstand the high winds we are getting more regularly up here. When the mailboxes blow over they hold our mail at the Golden Post Office until a group of us can get together to repair the mailbox stands.
Timeline
We are ordering four units with 13 mailboxes and one parcel slot in each one now, once they are delivered and installed you'll need to have a unit assigned. We are tracking everyone that has submitted their names and addresses and paid for their units.
What Residents Need to Do

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a cluster mailbox unit?
A CBU (Cluster Box Unit) is a freestanding, multi-compartment locking mailbox station installed in a central location for a group of homes. Each resident receives their own secure, numbered compartment, with a key. If there is a package in the Parcel unit for you, you'll have the key for the parcel unit in your mailbox that day.
How much does it cost and how do I pay?
We are collecting $200 per unit which covers the cost of the Cluster Units plus installation
What is the deadline to register?
While we don't have a hard deadline yet, if you have not secured a unit by the time the CBUs are installed you may have to pick up your mail in Golden until a unit is secured.
Who do I contact with questions?
You can reach out to Norma and Adrian at 630-341-9359 or merlinmedicine3@comcast.net with any questions.
